5 Pillars of Sustainability – Climate

For us, climate protection is not an option, but an integral part of our daily actions and has been embedded in our company DNA from the very beginning. We take a holistic approach – across the entire value chain. From raw material cultivation to production and transport, all the way to shipping and at our own site in Selbitz, we regularly measure our carbon footprint. Only those who understand emissions can reduce them effectively – and that is exactly our approach.
Measuring emissions and reducing them systematically
With the support of ClimatePartner, we have been systematically recording the CO₂ emissions of our site since 2020 – from energy and water consumption to transport, packaging, and disposal.
We take into account:
Raw material sourcing
Processing and production
Transport routes
Packaging
Shipping
Wherever possible, we actively reduce emissions:
Selection of climate-friendly materials
Resource-efficient production processes, e.g. for our TURIN bag
Optimized logistics, e.g. shipping via DHL GoGreen
Avoidance of unnecessary packaging – many products now come with just a hang tag instead of elaborate packaging
For us, reduction always takes priority over offsetting.
ClimatePartner-certified – fully transparent
LIVING CRAFTS has been recognized as a ClimatePartner-certified company since 2020.
This means:

Many of our products are fully ClimatePartner-certified. Every measure can be viewed online via our individual Climate-ID – both for our company and for individual products.
This makes climate protection measurable and transparent.

Offsetting through certified climate projects
Emissions that we cannot yet avoid are offset through internationally certified climate protection projects.
These include:

Climate action starts at our own doorstep
We do not only address climate protection along the supply chain – we also implement concrete measures at our company site in Selbitz to support climate and biodiversity:
500 m² of green spaces: Flower and herb meadows as well as a green roof on our administrative building improve the microclimate and create habitats for insects
A large share of native crops and wild flowering plants in Germany depend on pollination. Our meadow actively supports bees, butterflies, and other pollinators
Planned cooperation with Bienen Schmidt: integration of beehives to support regional ecosystems
On-site EV charging stations to promote climate-friendly mobility for employees and visitors
Regional ordering and pickup options via Our Market in Selbitz for shorter distances and reduced shipping emissions
In this way, we combine global climate strategy with tangible local actions – for a sustainable future that protects all generations.
