The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading standard for the processing of textile fibres form controlled organic cultivation. It makes high ecological demands on the entire value creation chain of natural textiles and also requires the compliance with social standards.
The non-profit Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) is directed at the improvement of the working conditions in the textile and clothing industry. As a result, the FWF reviews, evaluates and reports publicly on the progress of the member companies regarding the implementation of the FWF guidelines in their supply chains. The FWF labor standards are based on the core labour standards of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and include principles such as no forced labour, the payment of living wages, reasonable working hours, a legally binding employment relationship, no discrimination at work, freedom of association and collective bargaining, safe and healthy working conditions and no exploitation in terms of child labour. In addition, trainings for the management and the workers are offered and there are anonymous complaint offices for male and female workers on site.
